Terrell Matthews' Biography
My name is Terrell Matthews. I am from Southside Richmond. I’m twenty years old and my mom’s name is Tracy Alston. I have a brother and a sister, Tim and Kristen. My father lives in Maryland, and I also have a stepfather whose name is John Alston. Growing up in Southside was pretty rough for me at the time. Being out on the streets got me in a lot of trouble. I started selling drugs at the age of 15 and also smoked weed. I had to carry a gun with me everywhere I went, I felt like someone was after me, because I had a lot of problems with other people who were in that area at the time. After I graduated, I got a job working at the car wash but that wasn’t good enough for me. I kept selling drugs and during that time I felt like I was doing something wrong with my life. So one day after work, I stayed up all night looking at this guy on television preach, and I felt like he was talking directly to me because I was going through those things at that time. So the next day, I quit my job and started doing full time ministry at the THE ROC (The Richmond Outreach Center). Currently, I am a part of the Who So Ever Bus Ministry for kids. We pick up kids from the inner city and bring them to church and tell them about Jesus and have fun at the same time. I am also a member of the Chosen ministry, where we pick up teens from everywhere, have fun, and hear the word every Friday. I’m also a student of the college called THE ROC SCHOOL OF URBAN MINISTRY (R.S.U.M), which is located on Chamberlayne Ave. God has been so good in my life. He gave me the Holy Spirit to make me a better man and I thank Him for that everyday. I LOVE YOU ALL, GOD BLESS EVERYONE.
