At CHAT, we are committed to helping our community through service. College students have spent their spring breaks doing work projects on the lighthouse and spending time with our kids. Churches have formed work parties to help out our neighborhood. There have been community cleanup initiatives to pick up trash and beautify our streets.

If you are an organization or an individual with a heart for the work that is going on in the inner city of Richmond, please consider volunteering your time with CHAT. Please contact us with and questions you may have.

Academic Tutoring

On Monday and Tuesday of every week from 5:30-7:00, we have academic tutoring where we concentrate on reading and math skills. Volunteer tutors are paired up with Church Hill youth for an hour and a half to focus on educational skills and to build relationships.

Life Skills Tutoring

At CHAT, we also want to prepare the youth of Church Hill for real world challenges, so on Wednesday and Thursday (times and day may vary), we teach kids in the tutoring program how to cook and prepare meals.
