G-O-O-D M-O-R-N-I-N-G GOOD MORNING!

This summer has been an incredible experience and I cannot believe that I leave Tuesday! The summer has flown by,it has been filled with wonderful friendships, long bus rides packed with kids, pies in the face, weekly intern lunches, and “dunking” contests every pool daywhere I unfailingly lost miserably and feel that I will forever be waterlogged. But none of this would have been possible without all of your supportfinancially as well as spiritually..

Leap of Faith

This week we had one of the biggest trips of the summer. KD. Also known by the general public as: Kings Dominion. When we got there we were divided into groups with 2 adults (or college interns) and a group of kids. My group became divided because a few of the kids didn't not want to do roller coasters while the other half only wanted to do them. I went with the group that would do any ride but the major roller coasters. As the day went on it felt as if I went on the Scooby-Doo roller coaster 500 times. After each time we rode it the kids would run around to get back in line.

Make New Friends but Keep the Old...

I have been here for over a month. In this time I have felt that I have built many relationships. Each week I make more and more plans to meet with more and more kids outside of day camp and tutoring, "just to hangout". This is very exciting because it gives me valuable time with the kids in a more individual atmosphere than day camp does. It also gives me a chance to get to know the kids i do not get to spend time with during day camp. The thing is, none of these shin-digs have gone down yet.

Conversations and Questions

Its Monday night already? Goodness gracious! Well, this past week was filled with many more wonderful adventures, and so many stories that I don't even know where to begin. Tuesdays are the longest days of the week.. they can just be brutal. We start at 8 am and go straight through until 7 pm or whenever the last kid leaves the lighthouse after tutoring. After Tuesdays I need some thinking time. This past week Carrie and I got into a discussion on the back porch which made me start thinking and asking myself questions I thought I had definite answers too. If God loves everyone in the World why would he pick such a small select group of people [Christians] to be saved?

Precious Moments

Unfortunately no matter how hard I try I cannot get this blog to format properly. I have tried writing in another location, and copying and pasting and I have tried writing directly in this little box and neither works so thank you for bearing with my extremely long paragraphs. Last week we officially started the day camp. I have never been a camp councilor so I was really excited. I would have a little huddle of boys between the ages of 8 and 12 and they would all be equally as energetic and excited about camp as I was. That was half true. I had my huddle (aka. The 2009 Legendary Crew) and they live up to their name, most the time.

Romans 3:23

Week two has brought about many laughs but with it many more concerning thoughts. We have worked with the kids more and been able to make stronger friendships through tutoring, cooking class and now a ropes course adventure with the street leaders.

Welcome Home!

I have moved around 6 times in my life, but this summer is the first time I have moved without my family. Coming into this internship I knew very little. When my friend Becky first told me about CHAT I thought it sounded like a wonderful opportunity. Living in a new place, with new people, building new friendships and having crazy adventures, life doesn't get much better than that. I arrived mid afternoon last Sunday ready for anything.
