Our Mission Statement
Church Hill Academy is committed to educating at-risk youth of Church Hill to become responsible, virtuous, and articulate men and women.
We are dedicated to providing an individualized, need-based, holistic education in a safe and Christ-centered environment.
Importantly, our diploma is understood as one step in a life journey. We strive for all to become men and women of character, ready to take their place in college, the workplace, and as community leaders.
What is Church Hill Academy?
Founded in 2007 by Jack Bell, Taylor Winters and Dan Fisher, we are a private, Christian faith-based, nonprofit high school. Our ratio is 3 students to every 1 teacher. There is a yearly fee of $50 per student to attend Church Hill Academy. Our school expenses are paid for by private donations from churches and individuals.
What kind of high school is Church Hill Academy?
Our top priority is meeting the academic needs of at-risk youth living in Church Hill and reducing the area’s dropout rate. Scripture reading, prayer and worship are a part of our school schedule, but students are not required to be or become Christians. We are in the process of becoming accredited, offer courses necessary to fulfill Virginia’s graduation requirements, provide individualized and holistic education, as well as a safe and engaging environment for learning.
What are the goals?
Church Hill Academy has three overall goals:
(1) To develop each student academically, starting with their current educational skill level,
(2) To develop each student’s character (for example: work ethic, spiritual understanding, anger management, psychological development, etc.), and
(3) To love each student by developing relationships, disciplining, and being an active part of the Church Hill community.
